Online Casinos in Alberta
Alberta opened a regulated online casino market in July 2026. Here is how to tell a legal site from one that isn't, and what to compare before you sign up.
What changed in Alberta
For years, Play Alberta was the only legal online casino in the province. On July 13, 2026, Alberta opened its market to private operators, making it the second province after Ontario to do so. Play Alberta continues to operate alongside the new sites.
What makes an online casino legal in Alberta?
Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) is the regulator. It sets the rules and registers operators. The Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) runs the marketplace and signs the agreements that let registered operators go live. A legal casino is registered with the AGLC, has an agreement with the AiGC and connects to Alberta's shared self-exclusion program. A site that is not registered sits outside that system, and you get fewer protections if something goes wrong.
How to check a casino yourself
- Open the AGLC website and find its list of registered iGaming operators.
- Match the casino's exact name and web address to an entry on that list.
- Check that the site asks for age and identity verification before you play for real money.
- Look for deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion in the account settings.
The AGLC updates its list as operators are added, so check it each time rather than relying on an old article.

Our Alberta reviews
We publish a review only after the casino has passed our checks. Alberta's advertising rules limit how casinos can promote themselves, so we focus on registration, safety and terms rather than offers. Until our first reviews are live, use the steps above to check any operator yourself, or read how the rules differ across Canada.
